Not Otherwise

Delayed diagnosisof autoimmune dysfunctionhas consequence. The balance of the bodyis lost, with ensuing discomfort. As marvelous function, visible with others, turns enviable.Such simple functionI used to knowand ride unwittingly along.Instead now, uncertainty. What recovery is possible, and how long must I wait?Still, time does pass, and slowly restored functionis such pleasure and promise. As now satisfactions includeappreciating my vulnerability, and increasing connection to other’s physical limitations.

I would not wish this journey otherwise.Though I may be older now…
