Our situation and it’s dynamics
We carry awareness, consciousness, in the midst of a multitude of ongoing processes and developments. At times, we engage in something arising to us, with two possible outcomes.First, we may carry through to completion.Second, in some measure that engagement is not completed. The remaining traces of a fulfilled engagement is a clarity and familiarity with that process, leaving a sense of skill towards something similar. And this rests in a sense of openness and completion, without any remaining demand. The traces of an incomplete engagement are quite different. There is a remaining energy, some lack of clarity, and a sense of irritation. Something remains undone! And we carry that continuing demand along with us - a remaining momentum. For example, PTSD is an extreme case of continuing momentum. These two outcomes affect new situations of need or opportunity. If a new situation is similar to a previously completed task, we have some sense of how to proceed, some sense of ease. If similar to some unfinished task, there is uncertainty and fuzziness. But this is also an opportunity to clarify and resolve what was previously undone, and what is actually still pushing in that direction. These two conditions profoundly affect our freedom and openness to what may come next. Without unfinished energy, we have more readiness to what may arise. Whereas all the unfinished energies are potential distractions from what may arise, and may prevent us from what needs to be done, or an opportunity available.Of course, we have all been engaged in countless developments, and carry their traces. This is indeed a very great package, and we have much that is unresolved and pushing on our remaining obligations. But with good fortune, we may increasingly carry these through. Which opens an altogether different dimension - the possibility of being in the midst of our surroundings, with nothing needing to be engaged at the moment, and sufficiently free from past obligations, that the present is just simply open to our awareness without much constriction, and this stillness is a whole different realm than that of doing.
