Psychology
Unlike with electric charge, where a negative draws a positive, psychologically a negative attracts a negative.
After serious health declines, I've found myself regularly remembering negative experiences -- embarrassments, disappointments, awkwardness, poor performance. Somewhat surprising. That had not been my custom. Yet it went on.
In response, today I thought,"what are some most important successes?" I briefly listed three of these to myself-- truly beneficial things. Then, slowly, without trying, additional rewarding efforts came to mind. I could have let that continue, but instead was struck by the dynamic. And I felt good.
I've studied more than a little psychology, but do not recall the thesis that positive tends to draw positive and negative tends toward negative. How prevalent is it in human psychology generally?
