Gentleness
Years ago, with one of our vacations in Wellfleet, Barb and I had a small cabin at Drummer Cove, with a deck looking out on the marsh. Our cabin was away from others, and the little activity on the marsh seemed limited to birds singing and flying.
As the end of our stay approached, I'd go onto the deck to absorb the serenity, to bring back with me, and did recall it at times, and can still do so now.
Just now, with a warm, quiet, spring day on my own deck, I'm reminded. Trees are soft and gentle with buds and fresh new leaves, and the birds seem happy and sing of that. The needs for life are coming forth, all around seems without threat. The moment is gentle, at ease. But I needn't take care to capture and bring with me. I live here.
